E-bike or scooter for Glovo: rules and costs

Start with the legal category, not the marketing name. An e-bike uses pedal-activated assistance up to 250 W and 48 V, cutting off at 25 km/h. Pedals alone do not make a more powerful vehicle a bicycle.

Category before appearance

A marketing name is not enough to establish vehicle rules. Check assistance power, design speed and manufacturer documentation. Our described e-bike category uses assistance up to 250 W cutting off at 25 km/h. More powerful equipment should not automatically be treated as an ordinary bicycle. A moped may need suitable entitlement, registration and insurance. Verify the actual category of the specific model.

Compare a full working day

List shift length, distance, stops and charging access. Advertised range may differ under load, in winter or with frequent starts. Ask about charging time, extra batteries and servicing. For a scooter, include fuel or electricity, insurance and parking. For a bicycle, include tyres, brakes, drivetrain wear and theft protection. Compare realistic daily costs rather than purchase price alone.

Rental and instalments: check liability

Review total price, deposit, repairs and what happens when the vehicle cannot be used. Ask about replacement equipment and transport to servicing. If payments are deducted from earnings, understand the schedule and how a shortfall is settled. The instalment alone does not describe the full cost. Ownership at the end and early termination terms matter as well.

Equipment belongs in the plan

Match the bag to the vehicle and platform requirements. Check mounting stability, visibility, weather protection and safe phone use while stopped. Plan secure storage after work. The service catalogue lets you enquire separately about the vehicle, helmet, jacket, bag and phone. Confirm route, storage and budget suitability before committing to the entire package.
